How Do You Add a Booking or Appointment Link to Your Google Business Profile?
The short answer
Section titled “The short answer”You can add your own booking link to your Google Business Profile (GBP) under Booking, then Add link. If you have more than one, mark your main one as “Business preferred” so it shows first. You can also connect a booking provider that works with Reserve with Google, and you can remove third-party links you didn’t add.
What this means
Section titled “What this means”A booking link is a button on your profile that sends people to a page where they can book, schedule, or request an appointment.
There are two ways to set one up:
- Your own link. You paste in the address of your booking or estimate page. Google lets you add up to 10 links for appointments, plus separate ones for reservations and orders.
- A booking provider. Some scheduling companies connect to Google through Reserve with Google. Google says it can take up to a week for the provider to show on your profile, and providers may charge fees.
Third-party sites can also put links on your profile on their own. That can include directory or lead sites you never signed up with.
Say Willow Hair Studio uses an online scheduling tool. The owner adds the studio’s booking page as a link and marks it “Business preferred.” Now the Book button goes straight to her calendar, not to a lead site that charges her per booking.
Why it matters
Section titled “Why it matters”- Fewer steps for customers. People who are ready to book can do it right from Google.
- The wrong link costs you. A third-party link can send your customers to a site that charges you or shows competitors.
- Broken links lose bookings. If your booking tool changes its web address and you don’t update Google, the button leads nowhere.
- Tracking differs. Google says it doesn’t give performance data for custom links. You’ll need to track those bookings yourself (see 13.7.5 Appointment and Sales Tracking).
Who this applies to
Section titled “Who this applies to”Any business that takes appointments, reservations, or estimate requests online. Salons, dentists, cleaners, home service businesses, and fitness studios use this most.
You can skip it if all bookings happen by phone. In that case, make sure your phone number and call button are right (see 14.1.4 Phone).
How to do it
Section titled “How to do it”- Build or choose your booking page first (see 13.4.5 Booking or Estimate Page). Test it on a phone.
- Add tracking tags to the link if you want to see these bookings in your website reports (see 13.7.5 Appointment and Sales Tracking).
- On Google Search, open your profile and select Booking, then Add link. In the Maps app, use Edit profile and choose the booking option. Paste the link and save.
- If you have more than one booking link, mark the one you want customers to use as “Business preferred.” Google shows it first.
- If you’d rather use a provider, choose Bookings, then Get started, and pick from the list. Google points to Reserve with Google for the providers in your country. Read the provider’s fees first.
- Look for links you didn’t add. To remove a provider’s link, Google’s steps are Booking, then Remove Provider. Google says the provider has 5 days to take it down, and you can report it if they don’t.
- Click the button yourself from a phone once a month to make sure it still works.
What proof to keep
Section titled “What proof to keep”- A screenshot of your booking link settings, showing the preferred link
- The date you added or changed each link
- Your booking provider’s agreement and fees, if you use one
- Any removal request you sent for a third-party link, with the date
Keep these with your listing records.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”- Linking to the home page. Send people straight to the booking page, not a page where they have to hunt for it.
- Not checking for third-party links. A lead site’s button may be showing above yours.
- Leaving an old link after switching tools. The old tool’s page may still load but no one is watching it.
- Assuming Google tracks custom link bookings. It doesn’t give performance data for them. Use your own tracking.
- Adding a booking button you can’t keep up with. If you can’t confirm bookings quickly, customers will give up.
When to get help from a pro
Section titled “When to get help from a pro”Most businesses can do this themselves.
Your booking software provider: if you want bookings to connect through Reserve with Google. Questions to ask:
- Do you work with Reserve with Google in my country?
- What fees do you charge for bookings that come from Google?
A GBP specialist: if a third-party link won’t come off your profile.
Bill’s note
Section titled “Bill’s note”[Bill: add a short story or lesson here. For example, a client who found a lead site’s booking button on their profile, or how a direct booking link changed how a service business took appointments.]

- [What I actually did, step by step: which booking or consultation link I added for SiteSmarty, and whether I marked it preferred]
- [What it cost and how long it took:]
- [What surprised me or what I’d do differently:]

Questions people ask
Section titled “Questions people ask”What is Reserve with Google? It’s how some booking providers connect to Google so people can book from your profile. Google lists the providers by country.
Why is there a booking link on my profile that I didn’t add? Google says third-party partners can add links automatically. You can remove a provider’s link, and it has 5 days to comply.
How do I make my own link show first? Mark it as “Business preferred” in your booking links.
Can I see how many people booked from my Google profile? Google counts bookings made through a booking provider. It doesn’t give performance data for your own custom link, so track those yourself.
Audit check
Section titled “Audit check”- Question: Does the Google Business Profile have a working booking link that goes to the business’s own booking page, marked as preferred, with no unwanted third-party links?
- Pass looks like: A booking link that opens the right page on a phone. It’s marked “Business preferred.” No lead sites the owner didn’t approve. Bookings from it are tracked.
- Fail looks like: No link for a business that books online. A link to the home page. A broken or old link. Third-party links the owner doesn’t know about.
- Evidence to collect: Screenshot of the booking link settings, a test booking or test click record, and any third-party removal requests.
